instant collection

I've had a stack of 5 x 7 mat board rectangles sitting around for awhile, salvaged from a frame shop. I knew they would be great for some sort of project, to I've been hanging on to them. This weekend I came up with a cute project and finally put a few pieces to use!

I whipped up an instant collection of quotes that would make a really cute display!

I like to collect interesting quotes in my sketchbook, so it was great to use some in a project!

a bit of sewing

I sewed this fabric folder/organizer to corral all of my little papers... planner, notebook, sketchbook, scraps of paper with scribbled notes, my beloved sharpie pen... all my stuff. It was simple to make and works like a charm!

The fabric is from a vintage sheet, I've used pieces of it in quite a few projects! I estimated the proper size, cut my fabric and a layer of cotton batting, and sewed the layers together. Then I folded over the short sides to make pockets.

A leftover piece of seam binding tape makes a perfect tie...
